Bioeconomy and Sustainability

The Bioeconomy and Sustainability Commission aims to be a reference in the connection between the ESG agenda and Intellectual Property, aiming to leverage discussions involving the balance of the economic exploitation of IP assets with the bioeconomy, interconnecting the various areas of IP that are directly and indirectly related to BIO in general.

Furthermore, the Commission intends to address issues that directly influence the intangible assets covered by IP, with an economic and sustainable vision, focusing on the capacity for conscious exploitation of natural resources, without compromising the well-being of current and future generations, including in what concerns the social aspects of benefit sharing.

Topics such as the consequences for Brazil of the obligations arising from the COPs on climate change and biodiversity, rights of people and traditional communities, incentives for IP deposits for green technologies, study involving the INPI database, technology transfer in terms of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and harmonization of biodiversity legislation with the Nagoya Protocol.
